We Say Yes to Peace

Natalie's second grade concert was (finally) held yesterday after numerous postponements from the stupid snow we keep getting and can't seem to get rid of. The theme of the concert was "We Say Yes to Peace". Each classroom dressed as children from various countries, such as Italy, Japan, India, Morocco, and Israel. Natalie's class was dressed as children from Ireland. Each class did a song or a dance to the music from their country. There was a performance for the whole school (and guests) at 2pm and another performance at 6pm. Tim's Aunt Rorry came for the afternoon show and took us and Meme and Kare to dinner at Fogarty's afterward. The kids kept us all very entertained, but the prize goes to Connor for his rendition of "America the Beautiful". He was doing a lovely job with the melody and the words, until he got to the section "above the fruited plains", which he very sweetly sang "above the produce lane". Now, I tried, I really, really tried, but simply could not keep a straight face as he finished the song, which he did beautifully. Poor kid. He tried really hard. We all felt guilty for laughing but it was pretty impossible not to. After dinner Erin and I went to Natalie's evening show. Meme, Karen, Shallon, and Sue were there too. Erin's little friend Anna, who is the daughter of two friends I used to go to school with, was there to watch her brother (who is Natalie's class), and her parents let Erin sit with them, so she had a stupendous time.
