The First Post

It seems appropriate to post our first blog about Erin, who is one of the most imaginative children we know. Her tales and things she has said pretty much inspired the idea of this blog in the first place, so we will start things off today with the tale of Erin's imaginary friends.

New Years Eve this year, we discovered Erin still awake and talking away in her room at 11:30pm. Of course, we promptly told her to stop talking and to go sleep.

The next day, I asked her what she was doing up so late. She informed me that her imaginary friends were keeping her awake. Throughout the course of the next couple of days, we came to discover that Erin had been hosting six imaginary friends at our house every day. Their names are Adam, Emily, Jeanna, Julian, Sidney, and Norman (all but Norman are names of other little friends who actually exist...we don't know where Norman came from). They are all eighteen years old except for Norman, who is six. And we discovered that these little friends were homeless. So we decided that they could sleep under the tree but could not sleep in Erin's room because they were keeping her awake far too late into the evening.

Well, when I took down our Christmas tree, Erin became very upset, because her friends had been sleeping under it. That night, Tim told her that her friends could sleep under our dining room table. She informed us that they now had homes that God had "builded" for them. We sent them on their way. The next day, after questioning her, I discovered her friends were now living in their new homes in North Carolina and drove "like crazy" every day to visit her.

About a week later, they once again became refugees under our table because (according to Erin), their houses were destroyed. Now, somewhere along the way, her band of friends has expanded to eight. And now, according to Erin, they have taken up residence at Nana's house and sleep there at night. :)

Another funny from Erin: in the car one day, Erin asked Tim where we were going, and he told her "crazy", which she found funny. A few days later, our friend Candace had mentioned that someone was driving her crazy. Erin piped up, "My dad drives there too sometimes!". :)

OMG, she is just too much!! Hey, I wonder if her friends were coming to visit us.... maybe I'll ask Ethan if he's seen them! LOL
I love the "crazy" story! For months after my father came to visit a few years ago, Logan wanted to "go to crazy" every time we got in the car. He thought it was a place too!
Kids are just too funny!
